    Great toy/activity!!Great toy/activity for my toddler. These blocks are great. Nice shapes, sizes and colors and with 250 blocks there are plenty for making many different patterns. I saw the cards that are sold by Learning Resources and felt like they were more geometric patterns. But my daughter is only 2.5 years old, so I ended up ordering Learning Advantage 8837 Pattern Block Activity Cards Pack of 20 (also sold on amazon). These blocks work on those cards perfectly and Learning Advantage cards have simpler & nicer designs (i.e., rocket, car, owl, etc. instead of geometric patterns) for younger kids. She loved the blocks and made so many designs. With her own designs that she will make and more complex pattern cards available by Learning Resources and Learning Advantage, I am hoping for this to be a great toy for a long time to come. 5Blocks of funWe bought this as a Christmas gift for one of our kids last year. For some reason it just got placed in the game closet and forgotten. We busted these out the other day and they were a hit. The whole family enjoyed building different patterns, trying to make neat designs - it really engaged my children's imagination. At first they kept wanting to copy what Mom and Dad were making, but it wasn't too long before they got the hang of it and were making their own cool designs. It is now one of the favorite toys in the house.I didn't have any quality issues as reported by another reviewer - there was not color transfer, loose paint chips, uneven cuts, etc...They are all good quality and fit well together. They stack well to make 3D shapes and they keep the kids engaged. It's nice to be able to find good quality toys that will last through the years and abuse that kids can put them through, instead of the cheap plastic blocks. 5I love these. A few of the pieces came a little bit chipped which was my only disappointment, but there were still plenty of good ones. I use these with my three year old to teach her patterns and matching. She can also match them to outlines on mats to make animals, letters, whatever. I have some smaller patterns that she is learning to follow as well. It is teaching her to count because she has to gather the right number of pieces and they have to be the right shape and color. Great learning resource. 5Very nice productBought this product for my 4 year old. Wonderful for learning spatial reasoning and fine motor skills. I was happy with the amount of blocks that came in the set. They are thick and beautifully colored, but they are not a very heavy wood so I'm not sure yet how well they will hold up but so far so good. The moment I unpacked them he came over and started putting them on a pattern sheet (which I bought separately from Amazon.)He absolutely loved them and had no problem figuring out how to build the picture on top of the card. My older kids came over and started playing too. The blocks come in a plastic container which is great for storing them. They do slide a bit on the pattern card of you bump it, but he caught on really quick and was just more careful about setting them on the card. It never got bad enough that he got frustrated about it. 5Real Wood. Kids loved them.I bought these wooden blocks along with the Learning Advantage 8837 Pattern Block Activity Cards (Pack of 20) and it was a perfect match. My kids love the blocks because they are bright and with or without the cards they learned they could make pictures. I was happy to see they are made of real wood and the paint on all of mine were great, not chipped. The paint did not chip off during play either, so that was cool. My only complaint is the container, it's a thin plastic and it won't last the test of time. I very must suggest you buy a plastic storage container, maybe even one big enough for the blocks and the cards. =)) 5Perfect learning toolPerfect learning tool. These are durable and perfect for kids. The container they came in is good for storage. The lid goes on well so they do not spill. I printed a bunch of picture puzzles (found on Pinterest) for the kids to use the blocks with. 5Used over, and over, and over, and ...I noticed that right out of the tub, they were nicely finished and in great colors. I have used them with students from age three to 11. With younger students, I let them sort them by shape and color and make patterns (repeating shapes and colors). In small groups, I model fitting the shapes together for them and let them experiment with covering a surface with shapes. I do not use the term tessellation. With older students, I use a SMARTBoard and invite them to try to figure out which shapes will fit together. After that introduction, I have them make tessellations. We photograph them and present them to the class. With my oldest students, I have had them make a PowerPoint for viewing online and/or during family events at school. These are a great value. 5Wonderful Math Resource and Lots of Fun!I love these wooden pattern blocks! They just feel soft and smooth in your hands. They are far superior to the plastic blocks. I used these blocks in my own classroom for years, and have bought sets for each family of grandchildren to have as they grow up. They are wonderful for improving spacial reasoning for math! Children learn what shapes can be combined to make the bigger shapes, so they also work well to teach fractions. 5New product is cheaply madeCons: Lower quality than older versions of this product. I have a new set and and old set and the dimensions are slightly different (the new is smaller), which is very annoying. Also the new yellow is an ugly neon shade. Even with just the new set, the yellow blocks do not align perfectly with eachother.Pro: still has educational value though cheaper 1Best Purchase I have ever made!!!!This product is worth every cent. These are made of quality wood, in some wonderful colors, and each one is perfectly shaped. I bought these to help my son develop spatial reasoning skills, this is what I used growing up and they are made just as good. I bought these over a year ago and they are still perfect, the color isn't chipping off the shapes are holding up, and they are in top shape. We use these a lot along with the pattern boards and we also use them by themselves. You can stack them to make shapes or lay them down. Endless possibilities. 5
